Truck “Electric” Auxiliary Power Unit (APU) Systems

Commercial vehicles (such as semi-trailers) utilize auxiliary power units (APU) to provide energy for functions other than generating movement of the vehicle.  An APU and fuel tank can produce energy for functions such as refrigeration of perishable items during transport.  Conveniently, this can be done without the need of an external power source since an APU contributes fuel savings and extends engine life of the main engine within the vehicle. An APU is a beneficial power source that can be used with single or three-phase systems.
